Wildlife & Winter

Wild Thing!

Letting your garden grow wild can help wildlife tremendously.

Piles of leaves & bits of wood can create good spots for animals to hibernate & hide.

Break The Ice.

If you have a garden pond, it’s important to make a whole in the ice.

Why?

Toxic gases can build in the water, fish & frogs are then at risk.

Very carefully, place a hot pan of water on the surface, the underneath of the pan will melt away the ice.

Never pour direct hot water onto frozen water, with the bird bath, placing a bowl of hot water on top to melt the ice.

A helping hand.

During the winter, birds would sometimes need an extra hand at finding food.

Seeds & unsalted peanuts scattered around the garden will keep on top of their foraging skills.

Always provide fresh water in shallow bowls.

Preferably left out for the day then disposed of at nighttime.
