The Goose from The Lough

Many of you might have seen our post on the goose we rescued from the lough.
He visited our vets for an examination, an x-ray was taken and showed he had Osteomyelitis.
Osteomyelitis means infection of the bone. This can occur when a bird suffers from bumble foot, this begins with a cut on the sole of their feet and becomes infected, in some cases the infection can spread to the bone. For this fella, this was the case.
He must have been in a lot of pain, the infection was too far gone and the kindness thing was for him to pass on. The important thing was he was comfortable and had a bit of tlc before passing.🕊
