Well its February the 14th, so valentines day it is! Lets not get soppy & lets learn something new!
Lets begin Ostriches vs Emus!
Being rather enormous in size is an obvious trait that the ostrich & emu share.
They both have rather small, unproportioned wings, how on earth can they fly?
They are flightless birds, their wings act as balancing mechanism for when they run.
These two birds have been evolving independently for 50 million years.
Did You Know?
Ostriches have two toes on each foot
Emus have three toes on each foot.
Emu’s also lay green coloured egg’s which is rather intriguing compared to your standard cream coloured egg, which the ostrich lay.
- The ostrich have large eyes which give them excellent eye sight, their eye is larger than their brain.
- Emus large eyes are protected by multiple eyelids. These eyelids prevent the eyes from dust in windy areas.
