FREE MICRO CHIPPING CLINICS
The CSPCA are continuing to help the general public to be law compliant with the new regulations on micro chipping by again hosting two free clinics this coming march, one for the 11th and the other on the 25th both commencing at 2pm. All you have to do is contact the office on 021-4515534, give your name and contact details and we will allocate a spot for you. what you must bring is a current dog licence and photo ID of yourself, not the dog! and you will recieve a certificate of registration from the staff who will also log your details for you.
our first collection of 2016 is happening soon: It’ll be Sunday the 31st of January
We will be holding a collection for the C.S.P.C.A
These guys work tirelessly and selflessly and when we are tucked up in our beds they are out there trying to save any animal in distress. They are full to the max with dogs and cats and are constantly out and about picking up dumped dogs and trying to make sure they are given a warm place to stay and food in their bellies.
they also have lots of puppies in their care.
What they are looking for:
Tinned food, dry food, dog blankets, old or new towels(washed please),dog toys, tennis balls, squeaky toys, to keep the puppies occupied.
if you guys can spare any of these they would greatly appreciate it. even one large tin of food in lidl is about 54 cent.
the collection points are as follows:
LIDL Togher: 2-4
LIDL Ballincollig: 2-4
LIDL Fermoy: 2-4
LIDL Ballyvolane: 2-4
LIDL Carrigaline: 2-4
ALDI Grange: 2-4
LIDL Mallow: 2-4
We hope to see you guys on the 31st.
Thanks from all at VDP headquaters.
MICRO CHIPPING AND THE LAW
We have been shouting it from the rooftops for quite some time about the benifits of getting your dog chipped. From the first of April 2016 it will be an offence not to have your dog chipped and have a certification of registration- every dog over the age of 12 weeks must be micro chipped! The fines for not complying are quite substantial and can be up to €5000.
there will be a second dog warden on duty for the city in the next week or so to remind people not only must they have their dog licenced but also to encourage owners to get their dog chipped before the 1st of April.
We will be running a free micro chipping clinic on Friday the 15th and Friday the 29th of January from 2 to 4:30. The usual rules apply, one dog per family, we will of course microchip your other dogs but there will be a charge of €20 per dog. you must bring a current licence and a copy of photo id as proof of ownership of the dog and we are urging you to avail of this offer. Contact the office on 021-4515534 to book your appointment time.
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE
We have to say a massive thanks to you guys who have supported us in so many ways over the past 12 months. We are constantly getting donations of food and treats from people and as an example when we put up an appeal for Kongs, the response was such that we did not have to buy any ourselves!
Our Christmas appeal was as usual staggering as you can see from the photos, and this is not all of it.
A special word of thanks to our very loyal volunteers who come in week after week regardless of weather to help in the kennels, cattery and to help with the multitude of other animals kept here at the centre. our success here could not be achieved or maintained without your help and dedication. our work load is increasing all the time and each year brings its own challenges and we expect next year to be no different especially with the new regulations concerning dog Microchipping. January will see further building works at the centre with further improvements to the puppy areas but we will give you an idea of whats happening here in the next fortnight. From everyone here at the CSPCA, have a happy Christmas and a great new year.
CHRISTMAS TREES AT THE CSPCA
After the success of last year and with the amount of calls we have received over the past few days from the public looking for christmas trees we have decided to do them again this year. All these trees are grown locally in cork and are non shedding, but they are not cat proof- just saying!
For every tree sold the CSPCA will receive 1 fifth of the sale price which goes directly to animal welfare in cork. If you are looking for some stunning trees please consider getting one from us.
CHRISTMAS CARDS AT THE CSPCA
The christmas cards are now available in the CSPCA centre. these cards are hand made throughout in east cork and make a really nice suprise for that extra special someone. Each card costs just €3 with all profits going directly to help animal welfare in cork. We are urging you to please support us this coming christmas. Every single euro can make such a difference to an animals well being.
NEW SMALL ANIMAL UNITS.
The first of our new small animal display units has been set up and as you can see has some residents already. These units which will be used during the day are far more superior to our old ones and will allow for better hygiene and cleanliness due to the glass, it is also much quieter where they are kept now and will be much easier for visitors to the centre to view them.
NEW KONGS PLEASE……
We are currently looking to replace the kongs in the kennels and need about 30 at the moment. kongs are great as we can put paste into the middle, pop them into the fridge and you will give the dog hours (depending on the dog!) of fun trying to get the very last morsel out. if you were thinking of getting a pressie for one of our dogs coming up to christmas then maybe a kong would be a good option.
Work is well under way here at the center rebuilding our isolation unit.We will again be increasing capacity as unfortunately need demands it,far too many unwanted dogs out there and we want to help as many as we can get a second chance of finding a lasting loving home.We will keep you updated as works progress and when we will back to normal again.
